Spectrum selection according to needs and type of crops
We selected the spectrum based on years of scientific research in cooperation with the Institute of Plant Physiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as in cooperation with crop owners in Poland and Europe. Each of our luminaires has the ability to select a spectrum depending on its intended use. Horti 2 luminaires provide visually white light that is safe for the eyes. However, they are enriched with diodes of different colors corresponding to the needs and ways of growing plants. For this purpose, we use LEDs from reputable brands such as Osram, Samsung and Lumileds. We have developed three types of spectrum based on the latest scientific research, as well as consultations with specialists.
LED lights for cannabis cultivation
Cannabis cultivation lamps will allow the plants to provide optimal conditions for growth and development. If properly selected, they will allow to increase production and, consequently, increase profits from cultivation. Using LED lamps translates into higher quality and more yields, as they emit light with an optimal spectrum for cannabis plants, allowing the plants to better utilize light energy. LEDs for plants are also a solution for reducing production costs. This is because these types of lamps maintain high efficiency while consuming a small amount of electricity. In addition, LED lamps have a long service life, which makes them more economical over a longer period of use. In addition, they do not generate excessive heat, which allows to maintain the optimal temperature in the growing room and reduces the risk of overheating plants.
How to choose lighting for growing cannabis?
Hemp is one of the plants that require the provision of a large amount of light with the right spectrum. The short growing season and often unfavorable weather conditions are not conducive to their cultivation. For this reason, it is necessary to use appropriate lighting for growing hemp. It is important to determine the cultivation area and the number of plants to be illuminated. Based on this, you can choose lamps of appropriate power and quality. LED lighting for cannabis cultiv ation should be designed to support the plants in both the growth and flowering stages. You should choose fixtures that provide light with wavelengths that correspond to the full spectrum of natural sunlight. The optimal spectrum for growing cannabis should include both blue light (in the 400-500 nm range), which affects vegetative growth of plants, and red light (in the 620-750 nm range), which stimulates flowering. It is worth paying attention to lamp models that offer adjustable light output, which allows you to adjust the lighting to the current needs of the plants. For the cultivation entrepreneur, the low operating cost of the lamps, their safety and the long life of the LEDs will also be important. When growing cannabis indoors, it is also important to ensure adequate ventilation and maintain optimal temperature and humidity. All these conditions are met by our Horti 2 CB luminaires designed for illuminating cannabis crops. The spectrum of light emitted by these lamp models has been developed for optimal illumination of Cannabis crops. As a result, the lighting promotes both vegetative growth and flowering of the plants. In addition, they are equipped with a patented pulsed light output system. This technology takes into account the periodic reduction of light intensity, just as it occurs in the natural environment. This makes it possible to regenerate the photosynthetic apparatus of plants. As a result, they can effectively utilize light at higher intensities, which is conducive to increasing their productivity. Additional advantages of this system are high efficiency and reduced energy consumption, thus lowering energy costs, as well as passive cooling, which in turn extends the life of LEDs.
Characteristics of the LED plant growing luminaire – Horti 2
Horti 2 is a luminaire designed to illuminate greenhouse crops. The lamp has a lightweight, sturdy and slim form, thanks to its aluminum housing and a shutter made of PMMA. The Horti 2 illumination uses a unique in the world patented system of pulsed illumination of plants. Depending on the choice of spectrum, the luminaire can be used to illuminate different types of crops. Horti 2 was developed with individual user needs in mind, so depending on your preferences. Each luminaire has an individual control system. In addition, with larger crops in mind, we designed a group control system. In addition, the controller has the function of individual power adjustment – 10 levels, each level allows power reduction / dimming by 10%. The Horti 2 luminaire is made in accordance with the highest requirements of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice (EC)) No. 2023/2006 of December 22, 2006 for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food (Official Journal of the EU L384 of 29.12.2006, p. 75, as amended). High-pressure powder-coated aluminum casting ensures high IP65 tightness. The streamlined shape of the housing has no places where dust and dirt can collect and ensures very easy cleaning of the luminaire. The transparent PMMA aperture provides adequate mechanical as well as chemical resistance for food production. The luminaire uses highly efficient LEDs from companies such as Samsung and an efficient power supply, resulting in low heat emission of 365 BTU / h.

How to select the lamp spectrum for cannabis?
The spectrum of light has a significant impact on plant life processes, such as photosynthesis, respiration and flowering. In the case of cannabis, the right spectrum can also affect the content of cannabinoids such as THC or CBD. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the type of lighting used in cultivation. Depending on their needs and type, cannabis growers should pay attention to several key aspects related to light spectrum selection. Below are the most important of these.
Vegetative phase
During the vegetative stage, cannabis plants need a lot of blue light (about 400-500 nm), which promotes the development of strong shoots and leaves. Therefore, it is advisable to choose LED lighting with a dominant blue spectrum for healthy and well-developed plants.
Flowering phase
During flowering, cannabis plants need more red light (around 620-750 nm), which affects flower and seed production. During this phase, it is advisable to use LED lighting with a dominant red spectrum, which will contribute to increased yields and cannabinoid content. Therefore, not wanting to generate additional costs, the spectrum proposed by Perfand Led is composed to meet the needs of plants in each phase of growth.
